Egg Donation Process

APPLICATION - Complete your application online. Our team will review and determine whether you meet the basic qualifications to become an egg donor.

MATCHING - We will share your profile with intended parents in need of a donor. There is no average wait time to be selected, and it could be as long as 6 months to a year. Selection depends on the requirements our clients have for their donors at any given time. Most intended parents prefers donors with higher education; at minimum, a bachelor's degree, or who are in the process of obtaining a degree. Egg donation can be anonymous, meaning the family you donate to wouldn't know any identifying information about you, but at Dreamweaver we encourage what is known as "Known Donation", meaning that you will meet the family by Zoom, and they will be able to contact you if they have any questions in the future pertaining to your medical history, or if a child resulting from your donation wants to know more about where they came from.

SCREENING - Once selected, you will be invited to undergo a physical screening at the intended parents' fertility clinic. This will include bloodwork to determine your overall health, screening for infectious diseases/STDs, comprehensive genetic screening, fertility testing, BMI check, drug testing, and an ultrasound to make sure your ovaries are healthy. You will also undergo a psychological evaluation, and a session with a genetic counselor. If you need to travel for your screening, all expenses will be covered.

LEGAL - Once your screening results are in and you are approved to continue, you will enter into legal contracts with the intended parents. Your legal fees will be covered by the intended parents.

CYCLE START/MEDICATIONS - You will begin taking medications to prepare your body for the egg retrieval. Normally, your body will only prepare one egg to be released each month. With egg donation, you are trying to produce as many eggs as possible within one cycle. You will be given medications which stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs, and some of these medications will be in the form of injections, so you must be comfortable self-administering these! A friend or family member can assist, but the medications are very important and without them you will not make it to the retrieval phase and you will not receive compensation, so please be sure you are mentally prepared for this phase of the journey! You will be on medications for several weeks prior to your egg retrieval procedure, and you will have appointments throughout to monitor your progress. You will receive a portion of your compensation ($1,000) for beginning the cycle medications.

EGG RETRIEVAL PROCEDURE - Once the eggs are ready to be retrieved, you will once again visit the intended parents' fertility clinic to undergo the egg retrieval procedure. Egg retrieval is a quick and easy outpatient procedure, and you should not experience much pain after. You will likely be under general anesthesia for a short amount of time. After the procedure, you can return home or to your hotel. You will receive the balance of your compensation following your egg retrieval!
